The department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning was one among the nine courses offered since the inception of the institute with an intake of 60 students. The course is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. The department offers academic programmes at the Under Graduate level with the state-of-the art facilities. The teaching-learning programme of the department is not only confined to conventional classroom teaching exercises but also includes the exclusive online mode, taking full advantage of the sources of study and platforms available on the internet. The department provides an ecosystem for the students to achieve academic excellence and to emerge as a successful professional.

To impart quality education and produce high quality, creative and ethical engineers, instil professionalism, enhance students problem-solving skills in the domain of artificial intelligence and Machine Learning with a focus to prepare them for the industry, engage them in potential research areas, to pursue and have continued professional growth to serve the greater cause of society.

MISSION

To provide skill-based education to master the students in problem solving and analytical skills to enhance their niche expertise in the field Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
To educate the students with latest technologies to update their knowledge in the field of AI and ML. To enable students to experience content-based learning with premier quality data science education, research, industrial collaboration and to become a successful entrepreneur recognized globally.
To guide students in research on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, with aim of having an ethical impact on society by tackling societal grand challenges.

Program outcome

Apply the acquired mathematical, scientific, and engineering skills to meet the growing challenges of the industry, pursue higher education, and research.
Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyse complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
Design/Development of Solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, and cultural, societal, and environmental considerations
Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal, and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and the need for sustainable development.
Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice
Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams,
Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with the society at large, such as being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions
Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
Life-long learning: Recognise the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.
